RPG IV Programming - Part 2

Audience

Programmers responsible for writing and/or maintaining RPG IV code will benefit from attending this course.

Prerequisites

Delegates should be familiar with the IBM i platform and have practical experience
with the commands and tools relevant to application development and maintenance.
Delegates should also possess practical experience in writing basic RPG IV
programs to perform routine operations and file processing.
Experience with Rational Developer for i (RDi) is assumed as this tooling will be
used throughout the Workshop.
Attendees will require authority to create their own Schemas (Libraries), Tables
(Physical Files), etc. Source scripts will be provided to create a simple database for
subsequent data manipulation.
Attendee's PC's should be fully configured as detailed in a separate Checklist which
can be obtained on request.

3 Days.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this training course, the attendee will:
• Refine programming skills in RPG IV
• Adopt more advanced coding techniques
• Write moderately complex programs
• Use modular coding techniques

Course Content

This Workshop follows on from RPG IV Programming (1). The scope and function
of the RPG IV programming language is explored further and to a greater depth.

Once again, the focus is on best practice and coding in the latest, fully free-format
features. The Workshop also provides the ideal lead into the ILE Concepts workshop.
