IMS DB Application Programming




AUDIENCE:   This course introduces the student to the concepts of Hierarchical Data Bases in IMS and covers the programming components necessary for their processing. It is designed for systems analysts and applications programmers.

PREREQUISITES:   Some experience of COBOL or PL/1 programming as well as Program Edit and submission knowledge.

DURATION:   4 days. Hands on.

OBJECTIVES:   On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
- Describe the basic components of IMS DB.
- Understand the basic IMS DB terminology.
- Describe the main facilities available in IMS DB.
- Write and test a basic COBOL or PL/1 program to access IMS Data Bases.
