No knowledge of iSeries computing is expected although knowledge of the fundamentals of computing is assumed and familiarity of using a 5250 screen is helpful. |

| OBJECTIVES: |
This course provides a technical introduction to your i (System i , i5, iSeries and AS/400). There are basic hands-on exercises to introduce system access. Both 5250 and iSeries Navigator are used on the course. On completion of this course the student will be able to:

Introduction i (System i , i5, iSeries and AS/400) and i OS (OS/400) Introduce the basics of the system architecture and system objects Familiarisation with some displays Describe some of the basic terminology used with the system (objects, libraries etc.) Interfaces Introduce the various interfaces that may be used System menus, displays and iSeries Navigator Understand the working environment Control Language Object management Library Management Library Lists Messages Know where to go for HELP On-line Help Information Centre Managing work on the system Jobs Interactive and Batch jobs Subsystems Security concepts
