Introduction to the iSeries/i5




AUDIENCE:   Anyone who requires a basic technical introduction to the system.

PREREQUISITES:   No knowledge of iSeries computing is expected although knowledge of the fundamentals of computing is assumed and familiarity of using a 5250 screen is helpful.

DURATION:   1 day. Hands on.

OBJECTIVES:   This course provides a technical introduction to your i (System i , i5, iSeries and AS/400). There are basic hands-on exercises to introduce system access. Both 5250 and iSeries Navigator are used on the course. On completion of this course the student will be able to:
Use system displays,
menus, commands,
iSeries Navigator and Help.

COURSE CONTENT:  

Introduction
i  (System i  , i5, iSeries and AS/400) and i OS (OS/400)
Introduce the basics of the system architecture and system objects
Familiarisation with some displays
Describe some of the basic terminology used with the system (objects,
libraries etc.)

Introduce the various interfaces that may be used
