CICS 2.3 Features, Facilities and Migration |

| AUDIENCE: |
This course is designed for personnel who install, maintain, or use the CICS product. Primarily, CICS system and application programmers will benefit from the course. However, technical personnel from other areas (communications, database, etc.) as well as management may wish to take this course to develop proficiency in the concepts and features of CICS Transaction Server. |
| PREREQUISITES: |
Students should have some background or knowledge of previous releases of CICS. |
| OBJECTIVES: |
This course provides an in depth look at the changes that have occurred in the CICS product up to and including the delivery of CICS Transaction Server 2.3. New features are covered and modifications to existing CICS resources are discussed. The course supplies users with the information necessary to plan a migration to the Transaction Server products, while also providing an overview of the functional and operational capabilities of CICS Transaction Server 2.3. After taking this course, the student should be able to:
Identify changes that may be necessary to their application and operational environment to successfully migrate to CICS TS 2.3.
Provide a comprehensive plan to install and migrate to CICS TS 2.3.
Describe the additional functions and features of CICS/ESA 6.3 compared to previous CICS products, and how those features may benefit their installation.
Understand the differences in resource definition and CICS table management in this version of CICS.
Describe and utilize the enhancements to the CICS DB2 attachment facility
Recognise the importance of the new CICS internal architecture and the reasons for change to CICS in this area, as well as point out the major benefits of these changes.
Understand the e-business support
Take advantage of Enterprise Java Bean support
Demonstrate improved design, programming and system tailoring skill. |
